Situated overlooking the seafront of Zanzibar, Tembo House Hotel is surrounded by historic buildings and magical views of some of the islands. It has a small intimate beach in front of it but swimming here is not recommended.  Rather use the hotel’s pool as it is cleaner and a lot safer. The front terrace provides a nice quiet spot to sit and watch the amazing East African sunsets. In keeping with strict Muslim law, they do not serve alcohol. A short distance down the road you will find a couple of pubs which should satisfy your thirst.

Accommodation is in 37 rooms with an array of antique furniture and ornaments from all over the World. Sleeping on an unique Swahili beds and enjoy the wood carved furniture which rarely seen in many countries. Most of our rooms have balconies over looking the beach or the swimming pool courtyard. Each bedroom is self contained, air conditioned, equipped
with fridge, telephone and satellite/Cable television.

The hotel has long beach on the front where many like to make use of it for swimming or Sunbathing. The Clean refreshing water of the swimming pool will cool you up after along sunny day, Other services include laundry Services, Internet cafe, with Wireless Internet access and the Bahari Restaurant which offers excellent Local as well international cuisine.

Enjoy nightly performances of Taarab Music – a combination of African, Arabic and Indian influences that was first played in the 1820’s at the Sultan’s palace, Taarab is usually performed by a singer and accompanied by an orchestra comprising the Kanun, (similar to a zither) accordion, the nay (flute) and drums.
