Samburu Game Lodge opened in 1963 is set in 10 acres of pristine riverine forest on the western bank of the Ewaso Nyiro River, within the Samburu National Reserve. This rugged sunbaked landscape with surrounding jagged mountains form a perfect backdrop for photography.
It is a home to a wide variety of animals and bird species rarely seen in other parts of the country. Some of these rare species are the Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, the Reticulated giraffe and Blue Shanked Somali ostrich. Large herds of elephant are seen along the river’s banks which are much favoured by crocodiles and you may also see lions, cheetahs, leopard and much more. Bird life is prolific despite the harsh climate, but then nature in the wild is always full of delightful surprises
